Summary

Responsible for maintaining museum exhibits and general maintenance/repair of facility in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of janitorial employees in the general upkeep of facility. Reports to Associate Director. 

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assigns the work of janitorial employees.
• Determines and orders materials, equipment, and supplies to be used with approval from Associate Director.
• Performs major repairs and maintains the museum's demand for quality in all programs.
• Performs general repairs such as painting, patching walls, exhibit repair, etc.
• Other responsibilities as required.
• Coordinate and organize bi-annual cleaning days.
• Assist in move-in and move-out of traveling exhibits.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma or GED
• Self motivated and able to complete duties with little supervision
• Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with vendors
• Ability to inspect, repair, and maintain facility and exhibitory in an efficient and complete manner
• Ability to perform various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed
• Ability to update inventories and other supplies as needed
• Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions
• Perform duties involving heavy lifting
