Mobius Science Center
Mobius Science Center,
to be constructed at the Michael Anderson Plaza
in Spokane, Washington, has been designed to educate and
inspire people of all ages about science and how it applies to their
lives. It will be a place for both fun
and lifelong learning by making science engaging and accessible for children
and adults. Mobius
Science Center
will reflect the abundance of natural and technological resources of our region
and celebrate new scientific discoveries of local and global significance.
The Executive Director will report
to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the ongoing successful
strategic leadership and management of the organization and its operations.
He/she will hold primary responsibility for working with the Board to further
accelerate the growth of Mobius
Science Center,
supervise the administration of the children's museum, and advance the organization's
mission and vision. This will be done
with an entrepreneurial spirit that engages the community with educational
programs designed to stimulate intellectual curiosity and promote ongoing
learning in science, math and technology. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Lead Mobius Science
Center and develop strategies to achieve organizational growth.
•
Oversee the planning
and design of exhibits and the construction of the building.
•
Achieve development
and fundraising goals.
•
Develop marketing strategies
and materials through website design and traditional venues.
•
Formulate and
prioritize appropriate institutional/financial goals and maintain a balanced
budget and fiscally-sound operations.
•
Represent Mobius Science
Center to the community and inspire employees, the Board, professional educators,
scientists, technologists, and volunteers.
Ideal Skills, Experience and
Qualifications include: Candidates are
required to have a Bachelors degree and at least five years in direct
management of science and/or technology related businesses, projects or
programs. An entrepreneurial spirit as
well as a strong track record of success in development, marketing and/or sales
is essential.
Spokane is the second largest city in Washington
and the primary economic center in Eastern Washington.
The region offers numerous recreational opportunities, the benefit of multiple
colleges and universities, live theatre, a beautiful park system, and
interesting places for residents and visitors to relax and have fun. Mobius
Science Center
will have a paid and volunteer staff that support its mission and is a
nonprofit organization with 501(c) (3) status.
